Baltimore-based nu-punk band Cherie Amour have announced their debut EP, Internal Discussions, set for release October 1st on Equal Vision Records. The band has also shared their new single and video, “A Beautiful Mess, A Perfect Disaster” to coincide with the announcement. On the track, the group have created a lush, pop-punk driven sound highlighted by lyrics about desiring something that feels out of reach. The video for the song was directed by guitarist Casey Reid and plays into the emotional inner conflict found throughout the EP. You can watch the video for “A Beautiful Mess, A Perfect Disaster” here now and preorder Internal Discussions here.
Speaking on the single, vocalist Trey Miller stated:
“A Beautiful Mess, A Perfect Disaster is about a very specific situation in my life that never really got resolved. From a music standpoint, it was one of the more difficult songs for me to do. I just couldn’t come up with melodies for a long time and I came up with the final idea for the song a couple of days before recording it. I love how poppy the song is and it’s possibly my favorite hook that we’ve written.”
Composed of Trey Miller (vocals), Casey Reid (guitar), Brendan Willis (guitar) and Ronnie Sherman (drums), Cherie Amour are out to carve their own path in the alternative music scene. Tossing aside their worries of being pigeon-holed into one particular genre, they have embraced the self-proclaimed title of “nu-punk”. Taking influence from a plethora of artists such as Linkin Park, MGK, Bring Me the Horizon, Don Broco, and Dance Gavin Dance, the band expertly crafts genre-blending sounds into each track they create. Having already gained a rapidly growing fanbase from previous singles “Burn” and “Orlando”, Cherie Amour is reeling to break boundaries with the release of Internal Discussions and solidify 2021 as their year.
