Wind In Sails – the solo project of Evan Pharmakis – has signed to Headphone Music, an Equal Vision Records imprint. The Newport, RI-based singer-songwriter will release his sophomore full-length, Morning Light, on February 24.
“The new album is a perfect balance between stripped down, intimate songs, and more deeply produced, full-bodied tracks,” reveals Pharmakis. “Morning Light represents both the beginning of a new day, and the first step on the road ahead for Wind In Sails.”
Morning Light was recorded at Apparition Sound Studios in Thompson, CT with producer Chris Curran. The 11-track album will serve as a follow-up to Brighter Days, an eight-song album released in October 2012 and the more recent Darker Nights EP (October 2013) – a raw, stripped down release touching on the loss of loved ones and betrayal of friendship, while still holding an underlying message of optimism. He elaborates, “No matter how horrible things can get, with a positive mentality there’s nothing we can’t push through. Things will always get better with time to heal.”
For Pharmakis, Wind In Sails has always been a means of putting a positive message out there with hopes that people would find comfort in it – and that proves to be true on his forthcoming album as well.
Wind In Sails has toured and shared stages with the likes of PVRIS, A Loss For Words, A Rocket to the Moon, mewithoutYou, Our Last Night, the Vans Warped Tour and more.
“When I perform, I’m just me. I’m a normal person with struggles like everyone else. I love what I do and I mean what I say. When I perform I also really try to focus on why I wrote the songs I’m performing, and make my best effort to tap into the headspace I was in when I wrote them. I feel it makes for a much more true and hon
est portrayal of emotion.” Wind In Sails will reveal new music and tour dates in January 2015.
