Intense. Fast. Intricate. Strong. Loud. Technical. Passionate. Aggressive.
Texas In July’s newest creation – Bloodwork – is everything a metal fan could ever want in an album.
The highly anticipated fourth full-length album from the band was released on September 16 via Equal Vision Records. Following their previous 2012 self-titled effort, the Ephrata, PA-based metal outfit toured extensively all around the world gaining widespread recognition before finding themselves at a crossroads as a band last summer, when their longtime vocalist and guitarist both left the band to permanently step away from touring and performing to settle down at home in Pennsylvania.
The remaining members – drummer Adam Gray, guitarist Chris Davis, and bassist Ben Witkowski – pulled together and used the lineup change as an opportunity to revamp Texas In July from the ground up and as a positive turning point for the band.
The band soon joined forces with vocalist JT Cavey, a longtime fan of the band with a massive YouTube following, and a reputation for vicious screams, a wide range of vocal tones and a seemingly unlimited amount of enthusiasm, passion, and creativity.
Following several tours together under the new lineup, Texas In July entered the studio as a four-piece in January of 2014, in their hometown of Lancaster, PA with producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland. The resulting album is the band’s most impressive work to date, offering their most cohesive and innovative instrumentations and most dynamic vocal offerings – including a touch of clean vocals for the first time ever, in the seven year existence of the band. Additionally, Cavey displays a broad mix of screams, unique vocal patterns, and even an aggressive spoken word interlude. The new album also features a special guest spot from Miss May I vocalist Levi Benton on “The Void”.
Gray shows spectacular control throughout Bloodwork, whether he’s leading explosive breakdowns, displaying his stick skills in a solo spot, or serving as a precise guideline in framing the equally impressive technical proficiencies of his bandmates. Davis truly shines with his intricate fretwork and an incredibly diverse range of tones ranging from bright, crisp riffs to dark, heavy drives to ambient, atmospheric interlude transitions; Add in the jazzy grooving articulations of Witkowski’s bass-work and the result is a truly stunning and unique take on modern metal.
Texas In July has toured nearly non-stop over the past four years including countless North American and UK/European runs, and ventures to China, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and more.
Tour highlights include massive runs with the likes of August Burns Red, Of Mice & Men, We Came As Romans, Silverstein, Unearth, letlive., Miss May I, The Devil Wears Prada, Every Time I Die and many more. Texas In July has also performed at a wide variety of renowned music festivals around the world, including: New England Metal and Hardcore Fest, Graspop Metal Meeting, Hevy Fest, Summerfest, Vans Warped Tour, Cornerstone Festival and The Bamboozle.
The band originally formed in 2007 and signed to Equal Vision Records in 2010. Texas In July is comprised of JT Cavey (vocals), Adam Gray (drums), Chris Davis (lead guitar), Benjamin Witkowski (bass), and their recently announced new member – Cam Welsh (guitar).
